Aster Hall presents Alex Leopold & Marcus Amaker

Clear your calendar for Friday night. No, seriously, cancel your plans, let down your blind date, and tell your mom you’ll call her later. Now, here’s what you’ll do instead: head to Aster Hall on King Street. There are two phenomenal artists presenting their work and you really won’t want to miss this event.


piece by Alex Leopold Georgia native Alex Leopold paints captivating and emotional pieces. As you can see from the photos, many elements go into his art, so you should really take advantage of the opportunity to see it in person. The collection on display this Friday is Alex’s third exhibition in Charleston and is entitled Points of Origin. As a former musician, Alex Leopold’s love for music and lyric naturally come forth in his art. Alex mentions that, “even though we live in a digital world, words are at the forefront of every through, spark, emotion, and intention we have.”

Marcus AmakerOn the subject of words, be sure to get a good spot before poet Marcus Amaker takes the stage. He will be performing his original piece Beautiful Strange. If you haven’t had the chance to see Marcus reading his intimate poetry aloud, you are in for a treat. Marcus Amaker was voted one of Charleston’s 15 Most Intriguing People by Charleston Magazine and is a prominent local artist as well as the Editor of Charleston Scene.

Not only will these two artists be celebrated, Aster Hall will be celebrating their one-year anniversary as a venue for contemporary art. This event is completely free, open to the public, and offers refreshments. Aster Hall is once again providing a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself into some amazing art and culture so be sure to raise a glass in their honor!
