Romance Rocks!

Charleston Weddings‘ Bridal Couture show today was surely the most intimate of CFW happenings.  Well-dressed ladies and a few of their gents packed into the festooned & champagne cocktail-filled Style Lounge for The Peninsula’s best  bridal fashions.  The Charleston Symphony Orchestra rocked the tent with peaceful classics and surprising renditions of “Pretty Woman” and “So Happy Together.” So with cameras ready and champage in hand, this bunch of gals oohed-and-aahed through an afternoon of silks, sheers, and sheer delight.

White took the stage in signature ruffled style–complete with detail buttons, rosettes, and early-spring inspired pinwheels–including a catching high-necked cutaway shoulder confection that sent ah “oooh” through the smiling crowd.  White was later to rock the runway with a Vegas-inspired collection from showgirl to honeymoon lounger.

Belle Couture blew in a sea of lacy-“Is that her grandmother’s?”-looks.  The collection was pure contrast–vintage proper looks set to rockin’ tunes and styled with red-shoes.  Rough-hewn leather gloves paired with ruffled-rosette dresses.  Finally, a drop-waisted corset atop a tulle skirt with silk overlay tied up a just-gorgeous gathering of gowns.

Bella Vista brought that old “something borrowed, something blue” to a new level with modern shapes, blue surprises, and comforting details.  A full-skirt stunner with a hydrangea blue sash inspired sighs while the model strutted down the runway to “Hey There, Delilah.”  Blue wildflowers, heels, bows, ruching, and a suitcase connected the collection.  A drop-waist, disco patterns, and a comfy dress with pockets were all crowd pleasers.

Maddison Row & Bella Bridesmaid combined forces to present some fine silk-draping halters, silk chiffon overlays and ruching, ruching, ruching.  Detailed hairstyles and stitching make this a collection to remember.  And oh, that charcoal gray tulle delight–closely followed by a silk bubble skirt and gauzy sweetheart bustier–are sure to blow in an early spring.

Lula Kate thrilled to their classic silk lines and memorable ruffled touches.

This crowd was beyond excited to see South Carolina’s own Carol Hannah Whitfield.  The debut of her Weddings Collection in Charleston was marked by a crowd full of well wishers and Charleston colors.  Rainbow Row-reminiscent peaches, corals, and pinks strutted out in halters, jersey-like drapings, and fun shapes.  The aqua-blue of your porch ceiling walked out in a strapless dream fit for Grace Kelly.  And the bridal gowns?  Well the whisper behind me, “it doesn’t get more Charleston than that,” was spot on.  Paper-white ruffles at the hip to match reception flowers, Charleston antique lace, and simple styling with that Carol Hannah-touch are sure to bring success to this Charleston favorite.
