We admit it. We’ve been a bit preoccupied with Charleston Fashion Week. It’s hard not to be swept up by the excitement; fashion designers, haute couture clothes, models, photographers, the catwalk…everyone feels a bit of a star. But we realize this is not everyone’s bag, so to speak.
Here are our picks for cool things happening in Charleston’s art scene for everyone NOT wrapped up in Fashion Week.
She Loves You Solo Show by Kenton James at SCOOP Studios
Friday, 3.19, 5 – 8 pm
You’ve seen his work in the wildly successful group shows Yellow vs Blue and White vs. Black at Robert Lange Studios, and now you have the chance to see more. Kenton has been painting in the gallery all week and is now ready to bare all for you. We got a sneak peek, you’re gonna love it. But hurry before they all have red dots.
We Pictured You Reading This at Redux Contemporary Art Center
Friday, 3.19; gallery discussion 5:30, opening 6 – 9 pm
The exhibition is organized by the Brooklyn, NY based contemporary art journal, Paper Monument. Work from contributors to and featured the journal will hang through May 1 at Redux. The editors of the journal Dushko Petrovich and Roger White and exhibition curator James Bae will lead the gallery discussion at 5:30 pm.
Lori Wyatt Vintage Queen! Wine & Wear Preview at Aster Hall
Saturday, 3.20; 2 – 7 pm
For everyone that stayed home during the nasty weather of the first Wine & Wear Preview, like yours truly, Lori Wyatt Vintage Queen! will host a ‘Rain Date’ Saturday, so make sure you get by there! 481 King Street.
